Devil May Cry 2 » Devil may cry 2 - what happened?

Hi,

So, I recently came back to devil may cry 3 and enjoyed it a lot more than I remembered. And now I've nearly completed devil may cry 1 (having borrowed it from a mate). Which leaves 2.
Now, I've heard that it's an abhorrent mess that doesn't deserve the devil may cry name. It speaks volumes to me that there's sod all information on it online compared to what I can find about DMC 1 and 3.
So - is it really that bad, and why? Where does it go wrong exactly?
